Duquesne was picked to finish last in the Atlantic 10 Conference preseason coaches poll today, released at the league's annual media day in Brooklyn, N.Y.
The Dukes were ranked No. 16 of 16 teams -- not particularly surprising considering they are expected to be in rebuilding mode this year.
The Dukes underwent significant upheaval last spring with the loss of two point guards that transferred, the firing of former coach Ron Everhart followed by the hiring of Jim Ferry from Long Island University-Brooklyn.
No Duquesne players were chosen for the preseason offensive, defensive or all-rookie teams.
Saint Joseph's was picked to finish No. 1 followed by Saint Louis, VCU, Temple, Massachusetts, Butler, La Salle, Dayton, Xavier, Richmond, St. Bonaventure, Charlotte, George Washington, Fordham, Rhode Island, and lastly Duquesne.
Duquesne finished 16-15 last year and went just 7-9 in the A-10.
