Lernerville regular surprise of Firecracker

While Scott Bloomquist dominated the Sixth Annual Firecracker 100 Saturday at Lernerville Speedway, the surprise of the race came from a Lernerville regular who finished in the top 10.
Jared Miley of South Park started 23rd and finished eighth to earn the highest Firecracker 100 finish by a Lernerville regular.
Even though Miley didn't win, he received a boost in confidence when running with some of the best in the business.
"It felt pretty good," Miley said of his finish. "The track was slick, that's my favorite condition there and it was pretty much what we do on a regular night there when the track gets like that. The car kept getting better throughout the race and started to really come on at the end and we were making up ground."
"It adds a little for confidence for that race," Miley said. "That's the best we've ever been in it and I felt like we can race with anyone there. Overall, it adds to it knowing you can go anywhere and race with those guys ... it's just good all the way around."
Miley, 26, has four DIRTcar Late Model wins at Lernerville in 2012, tops in the division. He also leads the Super Late Model points as the second half of the season continues for all four divisions tonight.
On Saturday, Pittsburgh's PA Motor Speedway plays host to race No. 4 of the FASTRAK Northeast Touring Series "Cross the Borders" Speedweek.
The FASTRAK Late Models is a series for up-and-coming or experienced drivers looking for a competitive series, yet more economical than the Super Late Models.
Besides the FASTRAK event, PPMS will have its regular program along with an autograph session at intermission.
FASTRAK also will hold its first "Futures Cup Trifecta" race of the season. The separate race will pay $200 to win and give points for eligible racers. Only FASTRAK members under 20 that meet eligibility requirements can participate. Cody Dawson from New Jersey leads the Future Cup points over PPMS regular Nicolas Dabecco.
There will be a free concert at 5 p.m. by the U.S. Army Field Band, The Volunteers, who have played in New Orleans for Mardi Gras, at the Indianapolis 500 and the Calgary Stampede, along with fairs and festivals across the United States. The talented six-piece group has performed in all 50 states and many other countries.
PPMS will reschedule for Sunday if the event is postponed by weather.
