Jared Miley will tell you it doesn't matter where you start, only where you finish.
Miley, the winner of the Red Miley Rumble 53, couldn't believe he was able to win after restarting the race in last position because of a flat tire after hitting the wall on the first turn during the opening lap.
"After hitting the wall, I didn't think my chances were very good," Miley said about the possibility of winning the race.
"I had something break and something is still bent on the car," he said from Victory Lane at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway.
"This one means more to me than other," said Miley of South Park, after winning the memorial race named for his uncle, Red Miley.
"I've been trying to win this for a long time. The Pittsburgher [in 2011] got away from me, so this win feels good."
Cranberry's Lynn Geisler led the opening 25 laps before an apparent engine problem put him in the trailer, handing the lead to Keith Barbara from South Park.
Barbara and Gregg Satterlee would exchange the lead before Satterlee spun out in turn 4 on lap 38 with Barbara in the lead, moving Miley to second.
Miley raced side-by-side with Barbara before passing the former PPMS champ on lap 46.
Miley collected $5,053 in what was his first ULMS victory, his first Miley Rumble 53 win and his 21st win at PPMS.
Barbara finished second followed by Keith Berner, Steve Baker and Mike Johnson.
Ed Lynch Jr., took the lead on lap 5 from Brandon Spithaler in the Black Jack 21 event for the sprint cars and never looked back while picking up $2,100 for the win.
The win was Lynch's first feature win in 2012 and the 16th of his career at PPMS.
