Yes, it's the iconic Weejuns penny loafer introduced 75 years ago by Bass.
The Maine footwear company based its design on the moccasins worn by Norwegian fishermen (hence wee-juns), and the shoe became a staple of both college boys and cool cats. Think James Dean, "Love Story" and Michael Jackson, who wore his with white socks.
To celebrate its anniversary, Bass has created some new finishes that leave cordovan in the dust. One of the best is the women's gold metallic, a super great look for spring with everything from colored jeans to pencil skirts. You can even wear them for evening, for a relaxed take on glamour.
