Not every woman can marry royalty, but soon brides-to-be can dress like a princess thanks to a new line of gowns from A.B.S. by Allen Schwartz. The gowns are inspired by the recent wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
The royal collection features designs styled after the Duchess of Cambridge's V-neck wedding gown with Chantilly lace sleeves by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, although at $1,100, the A.B.S. version costs substantially less than couture. For the reception, brides can trade in the lace and lengthy train for a strapless dress with beaded waist and sweetheart neckline ($450, available in ivory or black) similar to the one Kate slipped into after saying "I do." Sister Pippa's figure-flattering dress with draped neck and capped sleeves also is represented in black, midnight, ivory and crimson ($390).
The collection goes on sale in July at Lord & Taylor and online at www.lordandtaylor.com. Pre-order at 1-212-391-3287. Quantities are limited.
