To the uninitiated or those with no imagination, Construction Junction looks like a warehouse jammed with junk. But regulars know this nonprofit in Point Breeze is filled with pure potential.

It's the best and most inexpensive place to find leftover and surplus doors, windows, tile and other building materials to renovate or transform a home or business.

If you have found inspiration in salvage, the PG and CJ want to hear from you. In conjunction with the Steel City Big Pour craft beer tasting fund-raiser on Sept. 10 at Construction Junction, you're invited to send photos and a short essay explaining how you've used salvage materials, where you got them and how your project is unique. It can be a creative re-use of one or more items or an entire room or building.

The top three winners receive two tickets to the sold-out Big Pour and a chance to show off their handiwork in the Post-Gazette that day and at the PG booth. Other entries will appear online at post-gazette.com and constructionjunction.org. Enter online only beginning Monday at http://biz.post-gazette.com/RenovationContest/default.aspx. Entry deadline is Sept. 7.
