If you've walked into any supermarket lately, you know how expensive just about every kind of food seems to be. Mix that with the down economy, especially right after the spending binge of the winter holidays, and more and more people are wanting -- needing -- to reduce their food costs. Do you have any tricks or tips that you use? Is there a store that offers a great deal on a specific item? Is there a food substitution that saves you green? Do you have recipes that fill the tummy and please the palate while also stretching your budget?

Send your best ideas to us, and we'll share them with our other readers. Just email food@post-gazette.com, or mail them to Food, c/o Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, 34 Blvd. of the Allies, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
