Red plates for AIDS

Starting next week, support HIV/AIDS prevention and raise awareness of HIV/AIDS by ordering "Red Plate Specials" at Pittsburgh-area restaurants and bars. A dozen establishments are participating in this year's "(Pittsburgh) Red Campaign" in honor of World AIDS Day on Dec. 1. The money they donate will be used to promote the efforts of local AIDS organizations. Visit pittsburghred.org for more.

• La Gourmadine Bakery, Lawrenceville, will donate a portion of proceeds from raspberry chocolate dessert sales Dec. 1.

• J'eet, Lawrenceville, will donate 20 percent of proceeds from various specials.

• Middle Road Inn, Shaler, will participate.

• Quiet Storm, Garfield, will participate.

• Remedy Restaurant and Lounge, Lawrenceville, will donate a portion of their proceeds from a World AIDS Day dish.

• Round Corner Cantina, Lawrenceville, will donate 50 percent of proceeds from Red Sangria sales Dec. 1.

• Spin, Shadyside, will offer drink specials, donating a portion of their proceeds.

• Square Cafe, Regent Square, will donate 50 percent of all their proceeds Dec. 1.

• Union Grill, Oakland, will donate a portion of proceeds from an eggplant parmesan special on Dec. 1.

• Sweetest Dessert Studio and Bakery, Pitcairn, will feature a new dessert, "With Love," AIDS Prevention Cupcakes (in Southern-style red velvet) and a portion of proceeds will be donated to AIDS awareness and prevention during December.

• Vanilla Pastry, East Liberty, will donate 25 percent of proceeds from a World AIDS Day-themed dessert, during that week.

• Willow Restaurant, Ohio Township, will donate portions of proceeds from drink and dessert specials during that week.
