There's something old, something new and something else on the horizon in Reality Land.
Fans of TLC's "Next Great Baker" got to see Lincoln Place resident Megan Hart buck up after host/judge Buddy Valastro dissed her raspberry cupcakes in a preliminary challenge in the Season 2 premiere earlier this week.
In the main challenge, Ms. Hart and two teammates created an "Under the Sea" cake that finished second in the public vote but first in Mr. Valastro's court of opinion. Watch for an exciting outburst next week, as promised in the promo.
Charged with baking life-size likenesses of Buddy's sisters, Ms. Hart is working with Texas baker Tony Frys. In Episode 1, Mr. Frys comes off as somewhat of an odd duck, and next week, when he begins futzing with something that's not his responsibility, Ms. Hart is shown shrieking, "Stop worrying about the [expletive] HEAD!"
This is one of the many reasons we love reality TV. New episodes air Mondays at 9 p.m.
• Meanwhile, on NBC's "The Biggest Loser," it's comeback time for some lucky and in-shape contestant. A new twist this season allows the winner of a marathon (run in the California desert by formerly ousted contestants) to reach the Dec. 13 finale.
Murrysville's Jessica Limpert, a travel nurse who lasted seven weeks and lost 53 pounds on "The Ranch," said she was cross-training to get ready for the race. The episode is Tuesday at 8 p.m.
Her boyfriend, Ramon Medeiros, whom she met on the show, was eliminated on last week's program. His follow-up video followed him to California, where he and Ms. Limpert were filmed running on the beach together and scratching off a bucket list item: skydiving.
• And finally, what's a monster-makeup mashup without at least one Pittsburgher? Season 2 of Syfy's "Face Off" premieres Jan. 11, with professional makeup artist Greg Lightner, 35, among the hopefuls.
In the first season, two with local ties -- Megan Areford and Jessica Kramer -- were in the often goopy mix.
