Never fear, arts festival food will be here

They call it the Three Rivers Arts Festival, but some of its biggest fans flock to it for the crafts and the food.

Although the Three Rivers Arts Festival food booths will be on Liberty Avenue extension this year, instead of on Commonwealth Avenue, they will feature crowd favorites such as Philly cheesesteaks and gyros.

This year, the food booths will be set up along Liberty Avenue Extension, which cuts diagonally from Liberty Avenue to Penn after Stanwix Street.
Festival spokeswoman Lindsay Clark says that though there are 25 percent fewer booths, they'll cover all festival favorites: gyros, Chinese, fajitas, french fries, Italian sausage, funnel cakes, potato pancakes, Philly cheese steaks, chicken on pita, seafood, kettle corn, fried vegetables and panini.
A new consumable twist: Invitation-only, Friday night guided tours of the Artists Market for collectors will start with receptions at Palomino Restaurant, where they'll serve a new cocktail: the "Festival Fizz."
The raspberryish libation was created by Alex Osgood, who won a contest among Palomino bartenders and servers.
If you're interested in attending, e-mail Sonja Sweterlitsch at ssweterlitsch@artsfestival.net to be added to the invitation list.
