Friday, more than 35,000 Western Pennsylvania girls kick off the annual Girl Scout Cookie Program.
They'll be selling, for $3.50 a box, Thin Mints, Samoas, Lemon Chalet Creams, Trefoils, Do-Si-Dos, Dulce de Leches, Thank U Berry Munches and Tagalongs. (There's no new cookie here this time, but there is to be one in 2012 to commemorate Girl Scouting's 100th anniversary.)
Last year, according to spokeswoman Cori Begg, $1,974,508 was raised here to fund service projects, purchase troop supplies, provide program opportunities and more.
