Dreadnought Wines has announced the latest in their line of Pittsburgh-themed label offerings: "Bubbles N'At."
Dreadnought's Deb Mortillaro says the sparkling wine is being made for her Strip District store at Le Vigne winery in Paso Robles, Calif., using French Columbard grapes. "It features a bouquet that highlights the fruit, characteristic of fine wines made in the New World style." The sparkler joins the first two offerings in the line, Redd Up Red and Yinzer Blanc. It will sell for $14.99 a bottle and be available Nov. 30.
Meanwhile, Ms. Mortillaro and her partner, Mike Gonze, are inviting the public to join them for a "Bubbles N'At" Premiere Party at The Omni William Penn Hotel, Downtown, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 21.
The hotel will rev up some nostalgia for the event: the original Lawrence Welk Bubble Machine, a prop that was left over from a 1920s movie premiere. The description of Mr. Welk's "Champagne music" was coined when his band played at the hotel and a dancer referred to the sound as "light and bubbly as Champagne."
The party is free, but reservations are required. Call 412-391-1709 to reserve a space or to place a pre-order for the wine.
