Cindy Crawford starts a furniture line
She may now be known as the face that launched a thousand duvets. Supermodel Cindy Crawford is the latest in a line of runway royalty who have decided to use their beauty, fame and fondness for home to design a line of home furnishings products. Kathy Ireland, Jane Seymour, Jaclyn Smith and Jacqueline Bisset have their own lines of furniture, so why not Cindy? That's what J.C. Penney thought, too. She recently debuted her bedding, lighting, window treatments and more for the department store chain. "I am thrilled to partner with J.C Penney ... and look forward to sharing my passion and sense of style for home decorating with consumers across America," she said in a release. Currently Cindy Crawford Style will include only about 10 percent furniture, and it will not be sold in areas where her other venture, Cindy Crawford Homeline, is sold in Rooms To Go stores. But you will be able to get her window treatments, occasional pieces, table top, bedding and bath linens and accessories at J.C.Penney stores.
The line is aimed at traditionalists who are interested in freshening up the look at a reasonable price. The Cindy Crawford Style Queen Comforter Set will start at $169.99, and for $69.99 you can get an area rug or lighting. J.C. Penney is counting on Ms. Crawford's years of experience in the fashion industry and her sense of fashion to get customers excited about dressing up their homes. "My collection is designed to inspire and help create a look that's fresh, effortless and enduring. I feel it will resonate strongly with the J.C. Penney customer," she said.
