Lisa Hatala, 33, and Rick Bruckman, 41, wed on December 3, 2011. The couple currently resides in McCandless.

Q: How did you meet?

Lisa: Rick and I met online. He was away at training for his job and we happened to be online at the same time. I wrote him and within minutes, he responded to my message. We chatted back and forth for only a short while before we exchanged phone numbers. After that, we were inseparable. On our first date, I felt so comfortable around him. It was like I had known him a lifetime. I went home from that date and I told my mother that I found the guy that I was going to marry.

Q: Where did you each grow up?

Lisa: I grew up in Aspinwall and Rick grew up in McCandless.

Q: Who proposed? How?

Lisa: Rick proposed to me. We went to lunch with my parents so he could ask for their permission to marry me. After that, we went shopping and he did not want to leave the ring in the car, so he asked me to wear it. After we finished shopping, he asked for it back. I guess I looked a little sad, so later that night, when we were getting ready to go see the Pittsburgh Symphony Pops, he came up behind me and said, "I have the perfect accessory for your outfit." I turned around and there he was with the ring. He asked, "Will you marry me?"

Q: Where were you married? Why did you choose that site?

Lisa: We were married at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fox Chapel. I chose that site because that is the church that I have gone to almost all of my life. And for as long as I have been a member there, the church has had the same pastor. It was important to me that he marry us.

Q: Where was the reception and honeymoon? Why did you choose those sites?

Lisa: Our reception was at Treesdale Golf and Country Club. We chose this site because my cousin is a member there and she and her husband offered to sponsor us. Since I'm a teacher, we will go on our honeymoon this summer when I am out of school.

Q: What was the best part? The worst?

Lisa: The best part was seeing all of my parents' hard work pay off. They did so much to make our wedding exactly how I had dreamed it would be. Without them, I never would have been able to have the wedding of my dreams. The worst part was not having my grandma there to share in the celebration of our day. Shortly before our wedding, she became very ill and unable to enjoy our special day. Although with the help of our photographer, we made a stop at the hospital and he was able to capture some very special pictures of us together.

Q: Who was your favorite wedding vendor? Why?

Lisa: Our favorite wedding vendor was our photographer, Ben Bonilla from Golden Image Photography. He is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet and so easy to work with. He helped take a very stressful day and make it one where I was able to relax and have fun. I cannot begin to say what a joy he is.

Q: What is one thing that you do solely because you love your spouse?

Lisa: I leave Rick little notes or cards. I like to leave him messages on our dry-erase board, on the mirror when it is fogged up or send him texts just so he knows that I love him to pieces.
