Celebrations Spotlight: Lesley-Anne Christy and Jared Colosmo
Lesley-Anne Christy, 25, and Jared Colosmo, 26, wed on October 1, 2011. The couple currently resides in Plum.
Q: How did you meet?
Lesley-Anne: Jared and I met at Clarion University where we both attended college. We first met on a bus ride home from Pittsburgh. I was with the accounting club and he was with another group. His ride stranded him in Pittsburgh, so he hitched a ride back to Clarion with us and sat next to me on the bus. We talked the whole way home and became friends. After that ride, I didn't see him for months until he showed up at my house with a mutual friend. We rekindled our friendship and began dating several months later.
Jared: Definitely what Lesley-Anne said, but she forgot the part where she gave me and another guy a ride home from the bus stop. Even though I lived farther away, she dropped the other guy off first, turned to me and said, "Sorry, but you were less creepy than him," and then proceeded to drive me home.
Q: Who introduced you?
Lesley-Anne: Fate. Meeting Jared on that bus was written in the stars for us. There is a reason for everything. There is a reason why we both went to Clarion. There is a reason a lot of different situations happened. The most important thing is that we are together and happier than ever.
Q: Where did you each grow up?
Lesley-Anne: I grew up in Penn Township, Westmoreland County.
Jared: I grew up in Plum Borough.
Q: Who proposed? How?
Jared: I proposed to Lesley-Anne after dinner one night at our favorite restaurant. When we got back to the car, I opened the door for her and she sat down. Then I gave her the ring and told her that I wanted her to wear it for the rest of our lives.
Q: Where were you married? Why did you choose that site?
Lesley-Anne: The ceremony was held at my church, Mother of Sorrows, in Murrysville. We had a full Catholic nuptial mass. Getting married in a church was very important to me.
Q: Where was the reception and honeymoon? Why did you choose those sites?
Lesley-Anne: The reception was at the gorgeous Longue Vue Country Club in Verona. Before I was engaged, I went to the club for work purposes and fell in love with the place. It reminded me of an old English Manor. The decor and atmosphere were perfect for the type of reception that we wanted.
Jared: Our honeymoon was at Sandals Resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica. We really wanted to visit a tropical place where we hadn't been before. We stayed in a honeymoon villa suite that provided butler service. It was nice to be able to relax after a year of planning our perfect wedding.
Q: What was the funniest thing that happened?
Lesley-Anne: Definitely the funniest thing that happened was that we didn't feed each other a piece of cake. When it was time to cut the cake, we made one cut in it and then couldn't figure out how to cut a full piece, so we just smiled and slowly walked away.
Jared: My brother's best man speech was the funniest.
Q: Who was your favorite wedding vendor? Why?
Lesley-Anne: We really liked all of our vendors. Our photographers, Photography By O'Neil, were amazing and we love our pictures. Even though it rained, we have some really great photos. Our videographers were great because they captured the whirlwind of the day. Our DJ kept everyone moving during the night. Our florist delivered some beautiful flowers. Our cake was absolutely delicious and Longue Vue's staff was definitely top notch.
Q: What's the most creative wedding present you were given?
Lesley-Anne: Our friends have three wiener dogs. They gave us a gift and then had a balloon animal of a wiener dog sitting in the bag. We had that balloon sitting on our shelf until it finally deflated.
Jared: My Uncle John made us a very creative, funny card for our wedding gift.
Q: What's the best marriage advice you received?
Jared: Never go to bed angry
Lesley-Anne: Make your own traditions
Q: What is one item of your spouse's that you wish you could throw out?
Jared: Her shoes
Lesley-Anne: I really don't have anything. I sort of put my foot down when we moved in together because we don't have much storage, haha.
Q: What is one thing that you do solely because you love your spouse?
Jared: I'm there whenever she needs me. When she is feeling sick, I want to make her as comfortable as possible. When she is stressed, I make sure I calm her down. When she cries, I kiss away her tears. She is my everything.
Lesley-Anne: I wrote that whole thing for him, haha. But seriously, I am there whenever Jared needs me.
