Saturday Poem: Return of the Rhyme

Most poets today seem to
write in blank verse.
Sometimes they run long
and sometimes they're terse.

It dawned on me
while eating an orange,
that ... uh ... umm ...

It dawned on me
while eating a pear,
that non-rhyming poets
need to beware.

Rhymes are now "in,"
blank verse is passe.
That's how I see it,
but don't quote me, OK?

Now a word of advice
to those who commit,
never use the word orange
and try to rhyme it.
