Saturday Poem / PRAYER

Give me back time. I'll give you whatever you ask.
Each exotic journey, every poem,
all my later hopes,
the music that made me feel like dancing.

Put me at my beginning when days stood ahead,
a brilliance of light, and the hands I loved
didn't slip from my grasp. Now the light narrows

here as for everyone. I'll give you my books,
food, my wedding dress,
even that night on the Italian coast.

Don't go. See what I have for you.
