Obama, Clinton have done little

It would seem that retired ambassador Dan Simpson is living in the Land of Oz when America could afford the role of world leader and caretaker.
In his previous column ("Embolden U.S. Foreign Policy," Jan. 30, Perspectives), while commenting on the Obama/Clinton duo in the world of foreign policy, their lack of response to American deaths in Benghazi received little attention or at most a gentle slap on the wrist.
He compliments both for being courageous but admits that in their four years of leadership they accomplished "little" and there has been "no big singular achievement."
While Dan Simpson's active experience occurred after World War II, when we were in process of hammering weapons into plowshares and our economy was booming, our ambassadors could purchase Arab loyalty with a pink Cadillac complete with upholstered leopard skin.
To my knowledge the only change in our foreign policy is that in order to maintain their loyalty and access to their oil, we now hand our Arab friends, along with a bow, a lot more cash.
So, Mr. Simpson's closing comment that "none of this diplomacy costs real money" rings hollow if not biased.
