What about booze?

This is an open question to the thinking people of this country. Before we try to get rid of the guns in our country, why don't we get rid of the booze in this country? It seems to me that we would get a much safer country by banning booze than by banning guns. I looked for the numbers on the Internet and found lots of them: alcohol-related deaths greatly exceeded the total number of homicides (from all causes) every year. Am I missing something here?
