I would like to make a suggestion for the parking problem on the South Side and perhaps for other places in the community. I lived in Tokyo for nine years. Land and parking spaces are at a premium. You even have to prove you have a legal parking place before you can buy a car.
What they have in Tokyo and many places in Japan are what I call "vertical parking lots," which take very little land. A "car elevator" is a part of the car passageway and is used to hoist and convey the cars to the level at which they will be parked. Often those elevators use platforms on which the car is stored and transported to its lot in the system.
There are several designs and anyone can Google and find information about them. Perhaps the city or a group of businesses could get together and invest in one or more of these. Just food for thought.
