U.S. Steel, please consider headquarters where it all started

Regarding "Strip, Findlay Considered for U.S. Steel Headquarters" (Sept. 11): I want to personally extend a sincere, heartfelt invitation to U.S. Steel CEO and chairman John Surma and U.S. Steel to consider returning back to where it all started: the Monongahela Valley.
Thanks to the visionary leadership of the previous and current county executive, the Carrie Furnace site, with ample acreage, access, history and narrative, would be the most comprehensive option for this important organization.
The Mon Valley helped birth U.S. Steel along with the American Industrial Revolution. My own community of Braddock is proud to still be home to the first U.S. Steel mill -- the Edgar Thomson Plant. Just across the river is the U.S. Steel research facility in Homestead. A few miles down the Mon is the Clairton Coke Works.
While the valley clearly has much to offer U.S. Steel, the valley absolutely needs U.S. Steel. It would serve as a nationally compelling and singular example of corporate citizenship for the company that helped build the Mon Valley to return to help save it.
