Urban violence

In my opinion the endless stream of news articles briefly mentioning gun killings in poor urban black neighborhoods points to the real blood on our national soul.

Newtown, Conn., is one horrific, tragic event. The overwhelming numbers of horrific, tragic events stemming from poverty, mental illness, racism and lack of gun control are in the black population, not the well-to-do white one. I'm not original in thinking this, but there doesn't seem to be a loud and impossible-to-ignore voice on the topic of mental health and gun regulation in the United States vis-a-vis violence in poor neighborhoods.
