UPMC security

Now, let's review ... An elderly lady wandered from her room without any staff being aware and gets to the roof of Montefiore where she is locked out of the hospital and freezes to death. An employee is killed and others seriously injured when there were not adequate security systems in place at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic. Now, we have an infant abducted from Magee-Womens, who thankfully was found by the police before any harm came to him.

UPMC spends tens of thousands of dollars on billboards, radio and TV commercials and the back cover of Pittsburgh Magazine to tout its national ranking. Do you think UPMC could spend its profits more wisely by investing more dollars in people and security systems to protect its patients and employees?

World-class health care? I don't think so.
