Toomey's bad call

I was ashamed to see U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey follow former Sen. Rick Santorum's call to vote against the United Nations treaty that would ban discrimination against people with disabilities. ("Despite Dole's Presence and Plea, GOP Rejects Disabilities Pact," Dec. 5.) The treaty would have extended rights which Americans have to all the 156 nations that have endorsed the treaty.

I was proud to see former Gov. Richard Thornburgh speak on behalf of the treaty and remind us of what responsible Republicans once were. Ex-Sen. Santorum is a disgrace to Pennsylvania, and Sen. Toomey should follow him into ex-senatorship.
