Time to leave

I recently sent the following letter to Sen. Mitch McConnell, the Republican minority leader in the U.S. Senate. I think readers of the Post-Gazette should see it, too.

"Right after President Barack Obama took office for his first term, you said that it would be your intent to do everything possible to make President Obama a one-term president. Well, you failed! This statement is the height of your lack of patriotism. You also failed the people of the United States since you might recall that your oath of office as a senator includes the duty of supporting and helping the people of the United States.

"Because of your preference for congressional and senatorial dysfunction, you have directly hurt millions of people in the United States who have lost their jobs, their homes, and the many children who are not getting enough to eat. Remember it was your party, under the Bush administration, that caused the recession and drastically increased the national debt.

"You owe a public apology to the people of the United States. Presently, you are considered to be one of the worst senators in the United States. The best and most important patriotic thing you could do right now is to resign your seat in the U.S. Senate."
