These senators simply want the truth about Benghazi

In your editorial "Kerry at State" (Dec. 26), you accused Sens. Lindsey Graham and John McCain of using sliming tactics against U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice.
The senators were merely trying to find out why Ms. Rice told five Sunday morning talk shows that the violence at our consulate in Libya was caused by the production of a video criticizing Islam -- several days after the evidence clearly showed otherwise and even after the head of Libyan security stated the real cause.
The late Eric Sevareid once said, "It is rather extraordinary how men must plot and combine and negotiate merely to tell the truth. It always comes out somewhere, sometime. Always. But sometimes it comes too late." The truth -- whatever it may ultimately prove to be -- will have come too late for the four Americans who were killed in the Benghazi raid.
Moreover, it is incongruous for anyone to accuse those seeking the truth of being purveyors of slime.
