The property reassessment is beyond absurd

First the Allegheny County taxpayers endured the multimillion-dollar reassessment process targeted at Allegheny County only.

Now the killer idea: With a deadline pending (Dec. 17), let the school districts negotiate ("County Allowing Some Assessment Appeals to Be Negotiated," Nov. 16) directly with the property appeal owners (only appeals heard after Oct. 26) and bring an agreed-upon number to a deadline-stricken county. Is this insane?

Having school districts as property reassessment experts (attorneys who are paid for by the school taxpayers) is so absurd on so many different levels! In the end the county leadership and the judicial system will assert that, although not perfect, this uniform reassessment process met the stated goals of fairness! This process, leadership and end result are an embarrassment to our intelligence. How insane! What a crock!
