Poor Tony Norman. It must be exhausting, railing at the evil Republicans trying to disenfranchise voters ("Altering Electoral College Count Is Ridiculous," Jan. 29 column). That's the only reason I can think of that he ignores the disenfranchisement of 47 percent of Pennsylvania's voters by our current Electoral College system. That's perfectly acceptable to Mr. Norman because his candidate won; imagine his howls of protest if Pennsylvania had gone to Mitt Romney.
If we want a completely fair system, let's do away with the Electoral College completely, or apportion the electoral votes in proportion to the popular vote. Let's abolish the Electoral College anachronism that we have now and rely on the popular vote.
Oh, and Tony, Pennsylvania is not a "blue" state. It was 52 percent blue and 47 percent red in the last election. Don't you disenfranchise my vote, or that 47 percent who weren't blue.
