The death panels lie

Are there death panels in Obamacare? On Wednesday night Mitt Romney said the law has a board that will eventually tell patients which treatments they can receive, a not-so-subtle reference to death panels.

Obamacare sets up an Independent Payment Advisory Board, which will look for ways to contain costs. The 15 members of IPAB are major participants in health care, including patients. It cannot ration or limit Medicare benefits, increase costs for beneficiaries or raise taxes. What it can do is review innovations in health care and recommend those that deserve adoption to Congress.

The IPAB uses a wealth of expertise to tackle a critical problem in our economy. Shame on Gov. Romney. He had to know he was lying. What does that say about him?
