Snow job

I'm writing in response to the Feb. 1 letter "Roadway Results" by Richard M. Dwyer Jr. of Westwood, in which he praised city public works crews for their snow removal work.

I, too, live in Westwood and have for 42 years and have had family living in Westwood since 1958. It has been my experience for all of these years that little or no roadwork has been done where I live and pay taxes.

For many years, my brother-in-law and later my son plowed the streets around my property themselves. I worked on the North Side for 25 years and never missed a day of work due to road conditions. Now I must depend on the city's Public Works Department's 5th Division and often, when snow removal is done, my street is plowed shut. This is my only way out. To me it seems a waste of money, manpower and time.

As a senior citizen, why should I have to keep calling the mayor's service center and the 5th Division to do a job that should have been done in the first place? I have property on two streets and they are neglected most of the time.

It seems to me Mr. Dwyer knows somebody. Public Works Director Rob Kaczorowski perhaps?
