Shame in sport

A few years ago, most cycling aficionados would have agreed that cyclist Lance Armstrong was the greatest of his generation. Today, most opinions have changed and for good reasons. Because of his proven doping, lying and cheating, he has been stripped of many of his greatest victories and his reputation is in shambles.

I believe the same should be done to Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Mark McGwire and their steroid siblings. Ban them from the Hall of Fame and expunge their records. They have thumbed their noses at fair play and they deserve to be punished.

For those fans and sportswriters who counter that anything is justified in winning and putting up numbers, shame on them and the players who cheat. Maybe there should be no Hall of Fame. Or maybe, we should just start injecting Little Leaguers so everyone would be on equal footing.
