I just have a few thoughts about the frighteningly self-centered Forum piece by associate professor Emily Oster ("Spend More Time at Work," Jan. 20).
A quick review of the article reveals Ms. Oster to refer to herself as "I" or "me" 14 times in the first five paragraphs alone (I couldn't make myself count any further). She also apparently equates logical time assessment with an adequate effort in building the most important relationship in most people's lives: How's that working out for her?
Finally, I had to highlight the next-to-last sentence in the article to make sure I read it right: She feels that her enjoyment (in her daughter's company) "diminishes fairly quickly." Ouch. Wonder what the poor daughter in question will think of this article 10 years from now.
