Satire and liberty

I am deeply insulted by Rob Roger's tasteless attempt at humor in his Dec. 6 cartoon. While I'm all in favor of freedom of the press, there is also an issue of responsibility at play here. I believe someone on the Post-Gazette editorial board had the responsibility to say to Mr. Rogers that he crossed the line of decency.

Nonetheless, it speaks volumes about our liberties that, had a cartoon of this sort been published in many nations around the world, it might have been the cause of riots and death threats. Instead, Mr. Rogers will simply be viewed by many as a pathetic little person.
