It is not long after the Christmas season of peace, and my family and I are concerned that we should be safe from mass murderers in theaters, sports arenas, schools, etc. So I have urged our senators to vote for the legislation regarding gun regulation that the president has proposed, in addition to the executive orders he articulated regarding the enforcement of existing gun and military-style assault weapon laws.
We the people, who should be protected by our government, have been all too vulnerable to actual mass murders by insane people who too easily secured guns. This has been going on for decades. Isn't it about time that some real controls were put on these weapons, and aggressively oriented, mentally sick people were prevented from easily acquiring arms capable of mowing down innocent children and others?
Who is the enemy? Is it the mentally sick? No, very few of those. Is it criminals? Yes, of course. And is it anyone capable of home accidents? All of these things.
Enough time has passed, enough innocents have been murdered, and enough of our country being the worst perpetrator in the world of the most killings per population. Let's show the NRA that the bottom line for their buddies in the gun business is not sufficient reason to murder innocent people.
"We the people" have the right to life. We also have the right to our welfare, meaning safety as well as a decent life. Let's do the right thing for a change. Write your congressmen!
