Regarding "Steelers to Sue Stadium Authority in Dispute Over 3,000 New Seats" (Nov. 1): Is it just me or are the Rooneys taking this city and county for a ride?
I understand that the Pittsburgh Steelers make upward of $198 million a year, and now the team's owners want you and me to pay for them to put more seats in their stadium so they can make even more money.
I don't care what's in the contract; times have changed. We're struggling to keep the bus system going and pensions of firemen, policemen, teachers and other government workers are in jeopardy, yet Art Rooney has the audacity to sue the government for more seats in his stadium, an expense that he could easily afford.
Like most Pittsburghers I have always been a diehard Steelers fan, but this latest episode has really left a foul taste in my mouth. I love Pittsburgh more than I love the Steelers and don't like seeing my city being held hostage by them.
The question shouldn't be do we love the Steelers enough to pay for their seats, but do the Steelers love Pittsburgh enough to do the right thing at this time? Right now it doesn't appear so.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm feeling rather used and abused.
