Romney's unreality

This past Tuesday, Mitt Romney was interviewed by NBC's Brian Williams for "Education Nation." In response to a question about student success in poor school districts, Mr. Romney answered that low-income parents were not involved enough in their children's education and that they should spend more time at the schools and that there should be a mandatory training class for these parents on how to help their children learn.
Does Mr. Romney not realize that many of the "poor" children come from single-parent homes and that many of these single parents work two jobs to make ends meet? Does Mr. Romney not realize that many of these single parents have other children as well and, because of cutbacks by his party, do not have the supportive resources so that they can be more involved?
Mr. Romney also forgets that he advocates that class size is not nearly as important as it is made out to be, so that the extra attention these kids need is taken away because of state budget cuts!
It is time for the voices of the poor and middle class to demand quality education and to take action to put into place officials on the state and local levels who realize the importance of education of all students.
