In his Aug. 31 letter, Myron Taube said, "How prone the Republicans are to praise the military, but do not do much service themselves. ... Not one of these candidates served" ("A Reflection on Those RNC 'Hard Times' and 'Self-Made' Stories"). I wonder if the writer intends to write a follow-up letter explaining exactly where and when President Barack Obama served in the military and what awards he received for that service (sorry, gratuitous Nobel Prizes don't count).
While I'm at it, I'd like to suggest a campaign slogan to be adopted by one of the parties: "If you want to share the wealth, share the work."
