The Penn State trustees' response to the Freeh report was a welcome breath of fresh air, honesty and responsibility after too many missteps in the ugly and painful saga of the Sandusky child abuse case.
Too often public apologies begin with the phrase, "yes, but." The trustees accepted the findings of the report without excuses and with an unqualified apology.
To all the politicians, business leaders and celebrities who have been in the position to offer a public apology: This is how it is supposed to be done.
