Pigeon abuse

How sad, in this day and age, that people in Pike Township, Berks County, have nothing better to do with their lives than shoot and maim pigeons ("Humane Officer Loses in Pigeon Shoot Case," Sept. 3).

Adding to that mindless cruelty against helpless creatures of God, they are teaching their children that snapping the necks of pigeons that manage to survive the senseless shootings by adults is OK. Apparently, they are unaware of the scientific findings that children who abuse, torture and kill animals may later transfer that deviant behavior toward humans. And what a shame that this is legal only in Pennsylvania -- what a distinction!

God bless Officer Johnna Seeton for her efforts in bringing this embarrassment to the end it deserves.
