The Post-Gazette unabashedly defends the Obama administration and all things liberal. There's no finer example than your Sept. 24 editorial page. Rob Rogers' cartoon suggests Gov. Tom Corbett's motivation for job creation through promoting the gas industry is "big money."
The editorial "Furious Folly" absolves President Barack Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder of any responsibility for "Fast and Furious" and blames George W. Bush, saying the idea was "hatched" during his administration. Maureen Dowd's column "Mitt's Mismanaged Campaign Could Use a High-Level Firing" concludes with a quote out of context, "Mr. Romney said he liked to fire people."
Under Gov. Tom Corbett, fiscal responsibility has returned to Pennsylvania. For the first time in nine years we realized an on-time budget without raising taxes.
"Fast and Furious" started in October 2009, long after Mr. Bush left office.
Finally, Mr. Romney actually said, "I want individuals to have their own insurance. That means the insurance company will have an incentive to keep you healthy. It also means if you don't like what they do, you can fire them. I like being able to fire people who provide services to me. You know, if someone doesn't give me a good service that I need, I want to say I'm going to go get someone else to provide that service to me."
Your paper often offers disingenuous distortions of current events focused on protecting a presidential candidate, a party and a platform that have failed miserably. Face it, Mr. Obama's first term is a dismal failure and he can't run on his record. There are no definitive plans or new proposals that might offer "hope and change" during his second term. How can anyone look at this president's record and ask for four more years?
Mr. Obama's re-election strategy involves painting Mr. Romney and all things conservative as evil. The Post-Gazette is his brush.
