Our way of life

On Dec. 8, 1941, my father was either the first or one of the very first men to volunteer for the Army. He lived in the South Side.

My brother was in the Army and went to Korea, and after graduating from South High School, I joined the Air Force during the Vietnam conflict.

The military drills the code of conduct into the mind of every serviceman. The first article in the code reads in part, "I am an American fighting man and I serve in the forces which protect our way of life."

Central to our way of life is the process of voting. Republicans are trying to restrict voting and, from my way of thinking, everyone voting for a Republican is not a real American.

A message needs to be sent that this silliness will not be tolerated.
