Obama and Christie show how it should be

People are making a big deal out of the praise Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey gave to President Barack Obama for his fast action in handling the emergency caused by Superstorm Sandy. They joined together to survey the destruction along the Jersey Shore. This is the way it should be -- no partisanship.

If Republicans in Congress would have reached across the aisle and tried to compromise with Democrats on issues presented before them, maybe the country could have moved forward more quickly. This gridlock in Washington helps no one.

The president, House of Representatives, Senate -- all the politicians in Washington -- are there to serve all the people, not just their own party members.
