Nurture learners

As a parent of three, I am disgusted by our governments' lip service regarding the welfare of our children, specifically, their education.

Pre-election, they want to conquer the obvious problems in public schools. Post-election, this is what we get. These officials are so far removed from the day-to-day life of a public school student, they have no idea of the problems we as parents face. I could no longer afford the costly private school tuition and tried public school. My well-behaved children had their love of learning squelched by violent threats from other children, teachers who are so overburdened the kids aren't even allowed to ask a question and social issues that interfere with nearly every hour of instruction. I am appalled at what school has become.

We deserve the right to educate our kids if we are willing. The public school system is broken and our government has no idea how to fix it. We deserve the right to use our tax dollars to educate our kids the right way. We deserve to have the resources to nurture learners, not fact heads!
