Not a good sign

I was shocked to read of the shootings on Gun Appreciation Day in, I believe, three different states occurring at gun shows. As reported in one incident, a gun owner was simply removing his weapon from its case in the parking lot, and it discharged, shooting three people. As far as I know, no one died, thankfully.

And these so-called trained gun experts are supposedly the cream of the crop as it pertains to gun knowledge and safety. Really? I know I don't feel any safer given these recent developments. One would think that gun aficionados would be extreme in erring on the side of caution, especially in a neutral gun show setting surrounded by their peers. Apparently not.

We are living in a dangerous world, one where there are armed criminals on one side and misled, undertrained zealots on the other. Doesn't indicate a favorable outcome in my mind. Can we just have a rational discourse about this issue, without either side going off the deep end? We have to end the slaughter of innocents.
