No match for U.S.

In his Jan. 29 letter ("What It's All About"), Bill Gery praises a previous letter from Art Bonneau on gun control and states that assault weapons are needed because smaller guns are no match against a government with assault weapons. I assume he means a battle against the government of my country (the United States of America).

Way back in 1791 protesters here in southwestern Pennsylvania started what was a small-scale insurrection that came to be known as the Whiskey Rebellion. The president of my government, George Washington, sent in federal troops to put down that rebellion. If anyone today tried to start a similar rebellion any president of my government (past, present or future) would do the same thing. Those rebelling would be no match for well-trained troops from my government.

U.S. Navy Seals took out Osama bin Laden quickly. If they can take out foreign terrorists, they can take out any domestic ones.
