No life difference

Crimes of fetus murder and fetus attack were headlined in two sad, separate news stories in the Sept. 21 Post-Gazette. In one case, "intentional homicide" of the unborn was charged and found ("Fetus Murder Conviction"). That these victims are lawfully protected is presumed -- by virtue of their humanity and without doubt or question of personhood. How else would these be considered to be crimes?
So what's the difference in the humanity of one fetus versus another -- whether planned for or not, chosen or aborted, conceived in rape or on a Thursday? Who says which life should be protected more than the other?
