NHL, spread some cash to affected businesses

To the National Hockey League owners and players: If you truly want to regain our trust and loyalty, I have a suggestion that would go a long way toward that. Why don't you players take a minimum of 50 percent of the $300 million "make whole" payment with a dollar-for-dollar match by the owners and spread it among all the local businesses affected by the lockout? Have the checks hand-delivered by an owner and a player representative for each NHL city with an apology.

Having hockey back is great. It would be miles above great to subsidize the business owners and more so their employees for all the lost revenue/wages. Do you want to prove you need us as much as we need you? Do you want to prove you're as loyal to us as we are to you? Then that's the way to go.
