Shame on the Post-Gazette! I searched the newspaper on Oct. 9 for a mention of Leif Erikson Day without success.

President Lyndon Johnson declared this day in honor of the first European who settled in North America in the year 1000, long before Christopher Columbus was even born. Every Northern European should be proud. What happened to the recognition?
