I was touched by Kevin McClatchy's story in last Sunday's PG ("McClatchy Breaks Painful Silence: After Troubling Times, Former Pirates Owner Reveals He Is Gay and Discusses Some Related and Controversial Issues," Sept. 23).
How horrible that he or anyone would feel it necessary to have to lie about their personal life and the pain that would entail.
Congratulations to him for doing the interview. No doubt it will do a world of good in helping to begin a healthy, intelligent dialogue within the world of professional sports and beyond as our culture continues to evolve away from the homophobic toward a rational acceptance.
Two thumbs way up, Kevin McClatchy!
