It's time to leave fossil fuels behind

Since last weekend, millions of people in the east have been without power during record-breaking temperatures and everyone is feeling the heat.

We burn the coal to make the electricity to run the air conditioners to cool down the houses, all of which contributes to a hotter planet, which in turn makes us burn yet more coal to make more electricity, and on and on into a foolhardy, fossil-fueled, miserable future.

It's time to grow up, America, and take responsibility for the costs of our choices. It's time to get off the oil-fueled, natural gas/coal-fired, nuclear-powered treadmill of climate destruction and demand investment in the non-fossil fuel alternatives that exist.

The future is here.
